Hat Care Guide
Your custom hat is more than just an accessory — it’s a reflection of your personality and style. Whether it’s your everyday hat or the one you pull out for special occasions, keeping it clean helps it last and look its best.
When your hat starts to show signs of wear, always wash it with cold water. Warm or hot water can cause the fabric to shrink or lose its shape. Hand washing is ideal, using a small amount of mild detergent. If you want extra protection while cleaning, hat cages are available that help maintain the hat’s structure. Some people even use them in the top rack of a dishwasher on a gentle cycle, as long as you skip the heat dry.
If the patch needs cleaning, skip soaking it entirely. A soft cloth with a light spray of La’s Totally Awesome Cleaner (sold at Dollar Tree) or a Magic Eraser works great. Wipe gently to remove grime or residue, but avoid scrubbing along the edges — laser-cut patches can sometimes have a bit of char, and rubbing too hard can lift that up.
Inside each patch, there’s a layer of foam that helps it hold its shape and texture. After cleaning, try to remove any excess moisture by gently pressing a towel against the patch. Allow it to dry fully before wearing, and always keep it out of direct sunlight during the drying process to prevent fading or discoloration.
For extra protection, a few products can help repel sweat and water before they become a problem. Hat Saver Spray or TriNova Stain Guard are popular options. Apply lightly and test on a small area first to make sure the material doesn’t darken. If your prone to alot of sweat stains, try a waterproof or sweat resistant hat.
If your hat gets especially dirty — say, from long workdays or outdoor jobs — Dawn Powerwash is another great option. Spray it on, scrub with an old toothbrush, rinse with cold water, and use a towel to gently squeeze out any excess. Let it air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight or heat.
Once it’s dry, store your hat somewhere cool and dry, and try not to stack anything heavy on top. With a little care and attention, your custom hat will hold its shape, stay vibrant, and be ready to wear for years to come.
